The coffee market is one of the U.K’s fastest growing industries and becoming one the its most crowded. However, when Chalk Coffee approached us, we’d be able develop a strategy that was sustainable and would make them one of Chester’s most popular artisan coffee shops.
Researching what already works on social media
One of our first steps with any client is to understand what kind of content is going to perform well with their audience/following.
In the world of coffee there’s a mass amount of inspiration available at our fingertips and Instagram proved to be a treasure-trove of beautiful latte art and mouth watering small bites.
From this massive pool of inspiration on social media we drew out the key themes, colours/tones and formats that would likely perform best. From this point forward we could begin to plan out the content for the next few months, incorporating a test & learn strategy (more on that later) to optimise the content to Chalk’s audience.
Never stop improving
With social media we know how being “precious” about and idea or concept can often lead to its downfall, and how not adapting to what your audience enjoys will only see you eventually fail.
Our way of combating was to create a test and learn plan for Chalk Coffee’s social content. This plan would allow us to test everything from the format (still or moving image) to elements as granular as the tone of voice in the captions.
Through regular monitoring of the engagement on each post we could quickly define what did and didn’t work, implementing the best features in any future posts.
Regular high quality content, delivered fast
Creating high quality, creative, content is what we love doing. Social media moves so fast and many companies find themselves stuck with little to no content.
With Chalk Coffee we made sure this was never an issue. Every month we visited the store several times to update shots and get more content, regularly turning around content in less than 24 hours so that it could be posted almost immediately on social media.
The Results
Since beginning work with Chalk Coffee, their following has grown to nearly 2,000 followers on Instagram and Chalk has gained mass-notoriety from local coffee lovers. They’ve quickly become one of Chester’s most popular coffee spots and visitors regularly compliment the staff on the social content on Chalk’s pages.
